Burdens recognises its responsibility to protect the environment, and pledges that it will conduct its business activities in such a manner as will control and minimise any adverse environmental impact. To meet this commitment, Burdens will adhere to the following environmental management principles: taking account of key environmental issues as part of the commercial decision making process, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and regulations; continually improving staff awareness and operating methods to reduce waste and pollution wherever practicable.
The following environmental aspects have been identified within Burdens current operations: Fleet Operations; Bulk Oil Storage and Dispensing; Oil Interceptors; LPG Storage and Handling; Chemicals and Flammable Liquids Storage; Waste Handling; Dust Control.
This list is not exhaustive and may be modified as other aspects are identified in the course of Burdens activities.
Burdens will minimise the environmental impact of its activities by establishing throughout the company an environmental management system which complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:1996, setting and reviewing environmental objectives at Executive Board level, ensuring that each employee, through training, support, feedback and regular appraisal is aware of, and fulfils, their environmental responsibilities, continually improving overall environmental performance through regular site assessment, performance analysis and management review, communicating environmental performance to interested parties.
Burdens integrates environmental factors into all business decisions.
Burdens will seek to minimise the environmental impact and pollution caused by its business, by the continual improvement of the performance of our processes and practices.
