Rainharvester FAQ's
Below is a list of FAQS regarding the Burdens Environmental Rainharvester range and general FAQS about Rainwater Harvesting.
If you have a question not listed below please contact us.
Is harvested rainwater clean?
With the “CS1” filter system unique to our harvesting systems, you get 95% pure water. This is more than good enough for flushing toilets and using in washing machines.
How will rainwater affect my washing machine?
Because rainwater is soft, it means you use less detergent for washing and it causes less damage to the heating element than hard water. This also means you create fewer pollutants which is good for the environment.
How much drinking water are we saving?
Research shows that around 50% of water used in a house could be supplied by rainwater. Toilet flushes alone take up around 1/3 of our total water consumption!
How big a roof do I need?
We recommend the tank size to go with your roof. A typical four bed house will capture enough water to keep a 5000 litre tank in use through most of the year.
What happens when the tank runs dry?
When you choose a system designed for flushing the toilets, there is an automatic switch over to using mains water so you can keep on flushing.
