Like many local authorities, Northamptonshire has issues with noise pollution as traffic volumes increase. Certain areas were found to be worse than others including the A43 within the M1 corridor.
In addition it was found to be necessary, wherever possible, to minimise the effect of local traffic and transport on the built and natural environment. It was also decided that local road design should incorporate the needs of cyclists and pedestrians.
As part of the “Getting Northampton back to work” scheme, this involves improving various road layouts throughout Northampton. IDS working with their partners at Burdens Environmental are pleased to have been able to supply a local contractor with IDS Mark 2 access chambers.

The IDS Mark 2 chambers are lightweight, reducing manual handling requirements. Importantly the material is made from 100% recycled plastic and is 100% recyclable. The Mark 2 access chamber with its twinwall design achieves a C250 loading without the need for concrete backfill.
