Combined Heat & Power Association (CHPA) Conference
The Programme for the CHP Showcase Event is Now Confirmed
The dual benefits of reduced costs and reduced emissions are driving the public and private sector to adopt proven and cost-effective CHP and District heating applications. The CHPA Conference is an opportunity to meet with the CHP Industry, existing and potential CHP users, policy makers and the supply chain and it will explain why these technologies are an efficient alternative to today’s wasteful pattern of energy supply.
With keynote addresses from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Andy Duff (Chief Executive of RWE Npower) and Richard Jones the Deputy Executive Director of the IEA, the importance of CHP technology will be made clear.
Purchasers, planners and policymakers all have a part to play….
This year's annual conference is aiming to provide public sector organisations with an increased understanding of the key role their planning and procurement power can play within their communities and organisations. Particular emphasis is placed on identifying successful partnerships between the public sector, agencies, private corporations and the CHP industry. This includes providing delegates with case studies of practical actions and initiatives that are being taken to develop CHP, whether in response to government policies and new commercial drivers and obligations.
Hear first hand from those pioneering new CHP technologies….
Seminar sessions are designed to bring together perspectives from retailers, investors and governments to assess the prospective contribution of a range of emerging CHP technologies (mini and micro CHP, biomass CHP and EfW). These technologies will play a clear role in delivering the Government’s renewable energy targets as well as diversifying our fuel supplies.
Heated Debate….
The BBC's Environment Correspondent, Roger Harrabin will be mediating in a policy debate between Conservative Shadow Minister for Energy, Charles Hendry MP and the Liberal Democrats Shadow Secretary of State for Climate Change and Energy, Steve Webb MP. John Sauven, Executive Director of Greenpeace, David Sigsworth the Chair of the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Hugh Goulbourne, Energy Group Co-ordinator from the Socialist Environmental think tank SERA, will be on hand to offer their respected views.
Dinner and Awards….
The CHPA Gala Dinner will follow the Conference. This is an excellent opportunity for industry members and guests to reflect on our achievements in the last year and look forward to the successes to come. It will also provide the stage for the presentation of the UK CHP Awards for 2008.
