Features AWADUKT Thermo is a polypropylene ground-air heat exchanger pipe system. In most cases a DN200 or DN250 pipe is used. The system comes complete with all the accessories required such as air inlet towers, condensation chambers and fittings. For a typical domestic project, around 40-60m of pipe is required to pre-heat or pre-cool the air and is best combined with a MVHR unit such as a ITHO hruEco4. What Is AWADUKT Thermo? A ground-air heat exchanger (a.k.a earth tubes) exploits the fact that the temperature of the ground is relatively constant at 1.5m deep, around 8-12ºC. By drawing ventilation air through an underground network of pipes, it is possible to pre-heat the air in the winter and pre-cool the air in the winter. It is an extremely simple and efficient system due to the small amount of energy required to bring the air through the pipes. Application
Benefits AWADUKT Thermo has a unique integrated silver lining which prevents microbial growth on the inside of the pipes, which can prevent musty smells entering the building. The polypropylene used in AWADUKT Thermo has also been optimised to increase the thermal conductivity and hence, heat transfer between the ground and the air.Environmental Performance AWADUKT Thermo was a finalist at the Grand Designs Awards 2009 for the ‘Best Innovative Building Product’ due to excellent environmental credentials. The bespoke REHAU software calculates for each project the estimated energy savings for heating and for cooling. Mechanical ventilation is a passive house principle and AWADUKT significantly improves the performance of a MVHR unit but also offers a renewable cooling option. Economic Advantages
A Coefficient of Performance of over 30 can be achieved with AWADUKT Thermo, which means that for every unit of energy used, over 30 are produced. |
