Features RAUGEO ground-source probes are available in both PE-Xa (cross-linked polyethylene) and PE 100 in 32mm and 40mm. Probe lengths vary from 50-150m and other lengths are available on request. RAUGEO probes are double-U loop probes, comprising of 2 flow and 2 return pipes.
What are RAUGEO ground-source probes? RAUGEO probes are installed in typically 100m deep boreholes and used to extract ground-source energy in combination with a ground-source heat pump (GSHP). Probes offer the highest performance as the ground is a more constant temperature (approx. 10ºC) at those depths. A specialist drilling contractor is required to install a ground-source probe.
Application Domestic and commercial applications.
Benefits RAUGEO PE-Xa probes offer the highest reliability due to the jointless probe tip (PE 100 probes have a welded joint). No joint means no chance of potential leakages. PE-Xa also has improved thermal, physical and chemical properties over PE 100. REHAU offer a full range of accessories required for a borehole installation such as weights, pipe spacers and antifreeze.
Environmental Performance All REHAU probes are double-U loop. This means that there are 2 flow pipes and 2 return pipes. On the one hand this provides higher reliability as even if there is a problem with one circuit, there is still a working circuit. Additionally, this provides additional thermal performance, up to 15% from having the additional pipes. REHAU PE 100 probes are manufactured to SKZ test regulations (HR 3.26).
Economic Advantages Installing a ground-source heat pump can save up to 75% of your heating costs and is becoming increasingly common in the UK. GSHPs offer a Coefficient of Performance of up to 4, which means that for every unit of electricity used, it will produce up to 4 units of energy.
