Airflush Waterless Urinal
Saving water
- Conventional flush urinals can use over 6,000 litres of water per year.
- If current trends persist, by 2025 two thirds of the world’s population will be living with serious water shortages.
- Surrey has less fresh water per capita available than Syria.
Saving money
- Conventional waterless urinals can require expensive and environmentally questionable consumables.
- The service costs of other waterless urinals are typically over £25 per bowl per year
- Service costs for AIRFLUSH® are typically £5 per suite of bowls per year.
Features:
- Waterless system
- No consumables (eg cartridges, oils etc) needed
- Integral low watt fan creates negative pressure and a gentle flow of air down the urinal bowls, effectively removing odour
- Single central trap minimises maintenance problems
- Minimal vandalism, flooding and frost problems
- Carefully-designed waste pipes prevent scale build up and eliminate leaks
- Developed by water conservation specialists, Elemental Solutions
Technical information at a glance
- System : Ifö ceramic bowl(s) with AF kit
- Waste: Integral. 50 mm ceramic spigot.
- Branch discharge: 50mm solvent weld to fall of 1:18
- Kit: Fan, fan transformer, trap, anti-downdraught cowl, instructions.
- Fan: 3W dc. Housed in 110 mm x 50 mm reducer.
- Vent termination: To BS 5572.

Fan: The unique feature of the AIRFLUSH® system is the low-watt in-line fan in the vent pipe. This runs constantly, causing just sufficient air flow at the bowls to remove all odour. The fan uses a very small amount of electricity – about 3W. It is expected to last more than three years. Replacement is simple and inexpensive.
Vent: Although an existing soil pipe can be used for drainage, the AIRFLUSH® must have a dedicated vent. The terminal, which has an anti-downdraught cowl, should be at least 900mm above any openable point on the building which is within 3 metres.
Waste: The branch discharge pipe is installed to a gradient of 1:18. This allows rapid run-off of the urine. The system has just one running trap. To prevent build-up of sludge this should be flushed out once a week with a litre of water poured down a bowl. If a wash hand basin can discharge to the branch, this will keep the trap flushed.
Bowl: The Ifö urinal bowls are hygienically designed to minimise splashback and direct any drips to the floor rather than the pipework or wall, where it is more difficult to clean. There is no trap under the urinal bowl, so that urine drains away quickly and potentially leaky
joints and seals are minimised.
Does it work?
Its robust and odour-free operation makes the AIRFLUSH® ideally suited to sites with multiple urinal bowls and heavy usage. It is suitable for a wide range of public and commercial settings including offices, airports, schools, visitor centres, hospitals, sports venues, hotels and bars.
